« you’re probably..the most famous artist in Britain.. » This is one of the last clips of Tony Hart on mainstream television. Also, did you know that Tony Hart was in an episode of BANZAI, ‘faking it’ as a youth club DJ..? He had a great sense of humour in general! ……Tony with Ricky Gervais 2000..Have to agree about Tracey Emin, although you shouldn’t blame Vision On for her ‘talent’..In this full interview Tony Hart and Ricky Gervais discuss, among other things, Leonardo and the his drawr-ins, Van Gogh, prostitutes..hmmmn Hart plays it straight (which is default anyway) in the tongue-in-cheek show while Gervais takes conversation into uncharted directions, (and Penny Smith doesn’t participate much – really not on..but also quite wise) ****Though I didn’t like parts of it, the presenter isn’t directly trying to deride his guest. Personally I don’t think Ricky Gervais is all that cruel in this, as some make out..It WAS an irreverent comedy chat show (though I still think that PEN-15 club joke was crass, probably could have been in the ‘Jonathan Ross Guidebook’ to cringeworthy and smutty comments). So, it’s got a laddish, sarcastic Frank Skinner-ish feel (not abuse like the Andrew Sachs calls..), and Tony Hart would have been going along with it I’m sure.
